The apartment was beautifully decorated throughout and very comfortable. The location was central and ideally placed for exploring Totnes and the local area. The kitchenette was great because we didn't have to always eat out. The milk upon our arrival was much appreciated. We would highly recommend.

Totnes is a beautiful town, very quirky and lots of interesting back streets to explore with cobbled paving and gorgeous old buildings. The main street is very special and full of lovely little independent gift shops, cafes etc. I have been here several times over the years and am always keen to return.

Totnes is a lovely place to visit for a short stay or mini break. We loved the variety of shops in the town which had a lovely vibe. The weekend market was fantastic! We also loved the sustainability factor! Being on the river meant there were also lots of lovely places to explore as well as the opportunity to take a delightful boat trip to Dartmouth! Totnes makes a great base from which to explore other areas like aTorquay, Paignton, Brixham and Dartmouth. There are good transport links so if you don’t drive, it’s not an issue! Would definitely visit Totnes again! :-)

Totnes is one of those places that once visited you know you will return to. It's located on a river that creates a sense of horizontal flow at the bottom of the town. Crossing the bridge towards the town centre, looking up, you may feel a little faint that the main shopping street requires quite a hike to the top of the street. But don't be larmed1 The way to do it is to zig-zag, lacing from one interesting shop to the next. Especially, explore the numerous charity shops for branded shirts and leather jackets presumably gifted by upmarket locals. When you finally get towards the top of the street you will find lovely cafes and restaurants serving delicious local foods. We decided to take away delicious vegetarian food from Seeds, and sit in the little green park, just off the nearby square.

Only visited the Steamer Quay.
Only visited the Steamer Quay. The parking payment options were crap and not working causing a backlog. The Cafe next to the Booking office was excellent and the Boss allowed me to park as I could not obtain a Parking Ticket. The Dartmouth Boat trip is good.

A good spot for an active vacation 4-7 days.
A good spot for an active vacation 4-7 days. Lots of outdoor possibilities, fresh air, good food and friendly people. Local bicycle rental would be nice. Totnes is also a kind of place where a language school for adults might be a success.
Excellent location just outside Totnes. fabulous breakfast, cereals, fresh fruit , fresh juice, choice of hot breakfast items if you wanted. Fresh home made cake and tea on arrival, fresh fruit and home-made cookies in the room. Still and sparkling water in the room as well as a selection of teas , coffees , milk and kettle .Gave us a lift into Dartington and Totnes on two evenings which was much appreciated. Very comfortable bed, good en suite shower and toiletries provided as well as slippers and bathrobes.
The hotel is perfectly located at the bottom of Totnes High Street, overlooking the bridge. We were able to park there which was convenient, though plenty of parking is available in the Morrisons car park. Our room was very comfortable, and overlooked the bridge. We were pleased to find that we had a bathtub, as well as a very powerful shower. At the price, we would definitely stay again. We had dinner at the pub which was also very pleasant.
Lovely room with lovely hosts and a delicious, full breakfast. Really, couldn't have asked for more in a stay. The room was close to the town centre, but afield just enough so that it was very, very quiet and removed from the noisy bustle of the High Street. (I actually moved to the Old Forge from another hotel in town, which was quite noisy -- traffic, street noise, etc). Looking forward to another stay at The Old Forge.
We were very well looked after by our hosts, Sue is a great chef providing both traditional and more contemporary recipes. The cooked breakfast was excellent. Very comfortable accommodation with some nice additional touches. Highly recommended if looking for a peaceful traditional Devon village location whilst nearby to many attractions including Totnes, Dittisham, Greenways (NT) and Dartmouth.
The staff were cheerful and helpful, my single room although on the small side and perhaps a little dated furniture wise was clean, warm and comfortable. The building is situated in a very tranquil country location and does not have the feel of a busy hotel. There was a wide choice of tasty foods for the buffet breakfast which was served in a somewhat Spartan lofty dining hall.
Beautiful & thoughtfully renovated barn nestled in the South Hams.
Perfect location close to Dartmouth, Totnes, Kingsbridge. Spectacular surrounding countryside & smaller villages to explore.
Comfortable, clean, well equipped. Everything in tip-top condition & working order.
Thank you David & Kate for welcoming us & for the fresh flowers and home-baked shortbread on arrival.
The room was lovely, spacious, and calm. The restaurant/pub was lively with locals, yet there was always space for us and our friends. Food was delicious--great pies, tasty fish, satisfying breakfast, and fine beverages (especially the Jail Ale). But the best part was the hosts: always welcoming and kind, flexible and attentive to details.
Right in Totnes town. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Lovely old building. Stayed for one night in a standard twin room which was very comfortable and met our needs. We were pleased to be able to get one of the very limited spaces on the hotel’s own small car park. Have stayed here before and would definitely do so again.
The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly, everybody working seemed to know what they were doing and were very kind and considerate which I appreciated very much. Free parking & a short walk into the centre, nice rooms clean and spacious. And again very kind staff! Keep up the good work!
Food in the restaurant was amazing! Organic delicious ingredients, cooked with real care and love.
The way the hotel has been renovated is really original and gave us ideas for our own house designs!
Wish more places were this brave in their aim to be sustainable and eco-conscious.
Breakfast was delicious and Julia was very kind and helpful. Beautiful old building in a quiet side street but within walking distance of the town center. We had a spacious family room which worked well for us and our three young children. We really enjoyed our stay!
Location excellent close to Totnes for shop about 10mins car journey. Pool amazing and steps to get in and and fenced to stop littlest falling in. We loved using the yoga studio and table tennis great extra space.
The apartment was lovely and clean with clean lines decor and fitments, bed was comfortable and the place had everything needed and more 😁 and compared with hotels in the area was up to £800 a night cheaper!! 🤩
