This is my second visit to Venice and I really enjoyed myself. You can wander and just get lost in the city and discover shops and lovely small restaurants and wine bars. I love the evenings when the crowds are less and this is a great time for a Gondola ride. We had previously seen the Doge Palace and St Marks Cathedral and if you want to enjoy these sights do them early. We elected to have drinks at the Longhi Bar at the Gritti Palace as the views are amazing. The cocktails are hand crafted and very good but are not cheap. We then has diner at Gio's in the St Regis Hotel which was a great meal with stunning views. I would highly advice a cicchetti stroll. These are bite sized (or 2 bites) snacks which typically have fish or meats on them. My favorites are All 'Arco and cantina Do Mori. Whatever you do, enjoy this unique city and what it has to offer.

This was my 5th visit to Venice, the first being in 1978.
This was my 5th visit to Venice, the first being in 1978. Sadly (and I realise I am part of the problem) it is now chronically overrun by tourists so would caution visitors to anticipate crowds and queues at the sights. But ... it remains a most beguiling city that is utterly unique. Get up early in the morning, enjoy the sunrise and watch this fascinating place come to life. Walk away from the crowds later in the day and you will be blessed with many fascinating sights just a stone's throw away from the hordes in San Marco. La Serenissima may not be all that serene these days, but plan carefully and her beauty will be revealed to you. It's all about the timing.

I'm Danish but grew up in Venice, musician for the Venetian Power musical and album record soundtrack "The Arid Land" by Claudio Ambrosini and just now back in town first time after 1975. What a change! And yes, too many tourists, you may well apply a Venice entry ticket fee to "giornalieri" at the minimum!

It’s a beautiful place to visit although the food is not the best in the world.
You have to do a great deal of research to eat at good place.
You also have to be very vigilant of pickpockets.
If you have several pieces of luggage it is very expensive to take a water taxi to and from train station or airport.
Try to travel light be prepared to a lot of walking and stairs climbing.

Inside the Basilica San Marco is a must see. Get a skip the li e ticket and get a 45 min guided tour. We used Venice Tours - Valentina was super.
Go up the campanile for the view. Again get skip the line tickets
The Teatro la fenice is also stunning. Go and see it - it's free

More than just gondolas there are also plenty of history...
More than just gondolas there are also plenty of history that if you are not familiar with you should start doing your homework. Wear comfortables clothes and shoes - all walking. Make sure you have enough local currency and tip for services - even though it is already included in most cases.
For food every blogger has their favorite (that doesn't mean they are right) Look at menu and surrounding (close to square the food more expensive the value was not the best) Try to eat at places are you can just grab and go - sit down places have cover charge so don't be surprised
We loved the hotel - situated extremely close to the centre St Marks square , had a nice atmosphere with stylish furnishings. Our room was elegant and comfortable (though the water was not hot enough to take a shower in the morning or evening- this is the only reason why I rated the place very good instead of exceptional). The breakfast was exceptional - coffee, a wide choice of baked goods, delightful pastries, savoury food etc. We travelled a lot in Italy and I would rate the breakfast as one of the best we have experienced in Italy so far.
Out stay at Angel’s loft was exceptional. Michele is a great host, he told us which ferry to take and met us by the station, helped us with our luggage and explained all the details for our stay. The place is just the most beautiful, clean, comfortable, safe and the location is the best, close to everything and in a great neighborhood, by the Rialto bridge, thank you so much Michele for one of our best stays in Italy, we will be back to Venice and we will stay here again and again!!! Five stars!!!
This must be one of the best hotels in Venice. Even though part of a large hotel chain, it still has the small family hotel atmosphere. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble with staff going beyond their call of duty. The position of the hotel must be the best in Venice, literally on the Grand Canal opposite a beautiful church Santa Maria della Salute and only minutes away from St Mark's Square. yet still peaceful away from the crowds.
The room and view were spectacular. It was our first visit to Europe and Venice, Italy was a perfect start to our trip. Marco and Chiara were professional and extremely helpful. They explained how Venice was laid out and how to navigate. They gave us an extensive list of places to eat each meal in each siestrie. The room staff were so efficient and our room was spotless and well equipped. A total pleasure.
I loved the location as we could either walk to everywhere in Venice from here or take the vaporeto as it was close to several stops. And we loved the apt itself, it had so many windows so loads of natural lighting, plus the bathroom was modern and comfortable (rare find in Italy). One of the few to provide so many toiletries, the host really outdid herself in order to ensure we were comfortable.
We've been coming to Venice for many years and had always stayed at different places. We have finally found "home" away from home! This place is amazing and met all our expectations. It is super clean, comfortable beds, fresh soft linens, and super friendly staff. Location is fantastic and so is the breakfast we had. Thank you for making our last stop in Italy unforgettable, Kristina and Maria!
we are a mixed couple, me Italian/Moroccan girl and he's English/Pakistani and his dream has always been to see Venice, what can I say we spent the best Valentine's Day, everything was perfect from the hotel a stone's throw from the train station and the boat stop , everything perfect from the room to the hotel service! thank you for giving my boyfriend a great impression of Italy!!!
Very nice and quiet location. Ideal for exploring Venice and jumping into the life of a local. A true Venetian neighbourhood.
The owners are lucky to have such a host like Fabio in the Locanda. He makes your stay feel like home. Open for any questions and giving advice. Because of him and the personal touch this was one of the best hotel/b&b experiences in Italy for us.
located in the not so crowded area of Venice. In my opinion one of the best places to stay, especially as the hotel is 2 min away from the bus stop. I suggest to park the car at Venice city park (5.5€/24h) and use the bus return ticked (3€, 10 min) to enter Venice. Much more relaxed and cheaper than the parking places nearby. you also get FOC water on the room.
Hotel Gardena was perfect for my husband and I on our babymoon to Venice. We loved the location- about 20 min walk to st marks square and in a quieter area that was so fun to walk around during the day and at night. Breakfast was great, the room was charming. This was a real highlight of our trip through Italy and definately somewhere we would come back to.
The Hotel was located in a perfect location. Staff was outstanding!!!! Helped with everything from restaurants, sights, and the pharmacy where we could get our Covid test and paperwork for our departure from Italy. Lara is enthusiastic about her job and helping you get the full Venice Experience!!!! This the only place that I would stay in Venice…..

Shortly- our stay In This Hotel was very good
Everything was exceptional! The staff was awesome, helpful, and compassionate. The facilities were immaculate and very comfortable. It was my wife and my first visit to Italy. The staff recommended a private boat ride around Venice which proved to be a great idea. The hotel location is a short walk from the Piazza St Marco.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We got a lot of useful information. The hotel is very close to a lot of sights such as Rialto bridge and St. Marcus square.
It was one of the best breakfast I ever had in italy.
This is a hidden gem in Venice. The host is incredible and presented the most wonderful introduction to Venice and the best local spots. Staying here helped to shape my trip into one of the best I’ve had in Italy. 🇮🇹
I traveled with my daughter, the Monte Carlo was our favorite hotel during our entire Italy trip, the room was spacious, the bed was comfy, the staff was wonderful, and the breakfast and coffee was delicious!
Beautiful entrance, neat furnishings. One of the few hotels in Italy to have a kettle and tea inside. Even issued slippers! They also cleaned much better the room than what I've generally witnessed in Italy.
Location and hotel staff. The owner’s Father was absolutely wonderful - gave lots of great recommendations for my trip in Italy and also in Venice. The room was large, comfortablw and clean - perfect.
everything! great location, great, helpful and friendly staff,
very lovely hotel, room was wonderful. breakfast was delicious, the best breakfast we had in Italy.
