Pinegrove Hotel, hotel in Carlisle

An independent, family-run hotel in an extended Victorian home, with many impressive original features. Close to Carlisle city centre and the M6 motorway.

End of the day it was an old building that let's be honest has seen better days."BUT" It was clean and everything worked. The staff were helpful. It was £65 for the two of us.The place wasn't exactly sound proof but that was the fault of the guests not being considerate when leaving at 5.30 AM.Other than that nice place.Lot of character.Bit of investment and it could be boutique.

Crown Hotel Wetheral, hotel in Carlisle

Just 6 miles from the historic city of Carlisle, The Crown Hotel is set in the picturesque village of Wetheral. It boasts leisure facilities that include a 12-metre pool and EV Charging Points on...

Stayed at the Crown Hotel when travelling to the area to compete in a national time trial (cycle racing). The hotel was great, and had a good range of facilities available for guests. We particularly enjoyed having access to the swimming pool and sauna, which after a long day driving up the country was the perfect race preparation. The room was clean, tidy and well presented. We dined in the Walton's Bar, which has a good range of food available, and not too expensive. The hotel was reasonably quiet and we got a good night's sleep! The village is picturesque, and there is a nice walk down the riverside (where you can see the castle and landing across the river).

Crown & Mitre Hotel, hotel in Carlisle

The Crown and Mitre Hotel is located in the centre of Carlisle city centre, with shops and local historic attraction such as Carlisle Cathedral and Castle just 2 minutes' walk from the hotel.

The old-fashioned hotel was a bit like walking back in time. But not in a bad way. We are not used to that many staff working in hotels that we have used, but really nice. We cannot Comment on the restaurant as we had a meal elsewhere. The bar was OK, but at that time, there was no atmosphere, but maybe it was at the time we were there. Overall it was fine, but the beds could do with replacing as ours was a bit springy and not a king-size one.

Dalston village is beautiful, but Carlisle Town, what we saw of it was uninspiring and unattractive. Lots of road works , confusing road systems and busy. Not a bit like the other lake district towns. Perhaps we hadn't seen the best of it to be fair.

    Quite an underrated town.

Quite an underrated town. The castle and cathedral are very interesting, plenty of history to see. I like it most because you can quite easily travel to fantastic locations from all directions; Hadrian's wall & Newcastle to the East, Ribblehead & the Lake district to the South, the scenic Cumbrian coast to the West & the Historic Southern lowlands of Scotland to the North!

Carlisle is so full of history I love the buildings eg the Cathedral, the Castle, the Citadel which is going to transformed into a university campus. The little streets are very interesting could have spent more time exploring.

Convenience as a base to visit more of Cumbria. If like me you don't drive its good to have a base with plenty of public transport to enable you to see a variety of places. Carlisle itself is easy to walk round, everything within walking distance.

Beautifully furnished lounge areas, all spotlessly clean. Excellent choice of menu (4 vegetarian options!) in the bar on Sunday night with great service from Henry. The pool is the best we have found in any hotel, wonderful to have a swim before dinner and also after breakfast next morning. Great breakfast buffet and cooked breakfast choices too, impeccable service from Beppe in the lovely conservatory room. Hotel is one minute from Wetheral station with a ten minute journey hourly to the centre of Carlisle.

a last minute booking as we wanted to start our drive from Scotland to Devon a night earlier. We normally stay at a PI located just off the M6 in Carlisle. on searching for availability this hotel popped up. it was like dream come true. less than 10 minutes off the M6, a very comfortable room with excellent shower. The restaurant on site (under different ownership) was great. we enjoyed a delicious Crab Salad and Lobster & Fries main. very pleasant staff.

Everything you expect from an Ibis. Clean, great value, decent facilities, great breakfasts! Room layout the same as all other Ibis hotels I've stayed in. Staff really helpful and friendly and the hotel is in a fantastic location. Carlisle is a really nice quaint town with lots of nice restaurants. The hotel is a 1 min walk from the train station, a 2 min walk from the town centre, and a 10 min walk to Carlisle United's football stadium.

Perfectly located for central Carlisle. Be aware it is a townhouse so do t expect huge gardens and total silence. It is literally a two minute walk to the Lanes Shopping Centre and central district. The property is immaculate. With very high quality bathroom products (better than most hotels). Good Wi-Fi for working on, tea/coffee/cafetière with real coffee in the room. Perfect wake up. Great breakfast also.

Carlisle Station hotel is ideally located for anyone traveling by train, being right next door to the station. It was spotlessly clean. The room was well appointed with a very comfortable bed. A lovely bonus was the free drink offer, and very ecologically sound idea, for not having the room serviced every day. A really first class hotel.

In theory the location is good, close to the market area. Unfortunately it is located next to several clubs which operate late into the morning. I was there on a weeknight and the music didn’t stop until 2 am. I would recommend the place if it wasn’t for the noise, but it’s the worst I have ever encountered at any hotel.

Great food in evening, obviously short staffed but the staff there were doing their best. Swimming pool and spa were excellent. Hotel room was dated but functional. The pull out bed was a bit disappointing, very uncomfortable. 190 quid for 4 people , 2 rooms with kitchen was pretty good value.

Lovely hotel, fabulous staff can see why it’s a wedding venue. Great location for exploring surrounding areas, Carlisle approx 3 miles away and only a couple of junctions up the M6 to Gretna Green. Hotel grounds were amazing but didn’t get the chance to enjoy them due to torrential rain

The location of the hotel is very good, as it's in Carlisle City Centre, and also only a few minutes away from a large supermarket. There was also a very nice breakfast included in the price as well, which meant that the room was very good value for money.
