Everything, it was beautiful, the rooms were modern and the view was superb, the gym and workout room was clean and functional. Hotel Grand Chancellor Melbourne, hotel in Melbourne

Enjoy some of the best views in Melbourne CBD, from the heated rooftop swimming pool at Hotel Grand Chancellor Melbourne.

I liked that we were right in the CBD close to China town restaurants and bars. Free tram 500m down the road. Was very disappointed with the room on the 7 floor no view at all. We arrived in April and was looking forward to swimming in the pool and going to the gym to find out both were out of order. Dale the manager on 100% made our stay by up grading us to a new room on the 17 floor (view of the city) and gifting us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience. Thanks Dale for making our stay way much better. $21 for all you can eat breakfast but make sure you book this in before 10pm the night before other wise you want get it at that price.

FAQs about hotels in Melbourne

Buzzy Jewel of Aussie Rules

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, whose highlight is walking through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.

The city’s most recognisable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the colour of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.

Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping centre has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.

South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this is not the city’s only sporting heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules football and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodation from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

Melbourne is such a beautiful city.

Melbourne is such a beautiful city. I was there to see Nick Cave at the Convention Centre. What a concert ❤️. Hotel Indigo was in a perfect place for me to walk to South Bank; in fact l walked everywhere. It was literally a five minute walk from the Southern Cross station. I can't wait to return to visit all Melbourne has to offer.

    Always love Melbourne.

Always love Melbourne. Going to Anzac Day AFL was a highlight. Walking the laneways in town looking at different shops and eateries was great, as was taking the tram to St Kilda for a walk around. Tram system was easy. Pubs, cafes, bars were busy. Food prices, especially in pubs were surprisingly high.

We commented daily on receiving incredibly kind and courteous assistance wherever we went and on the friendliness we encountered. Perhaps it had something to do with our white hair but it seemed very spontaneous and natural. The trams and trains are amazing, easy to access and incredibly cheap. Our good fortune with the weather was a huge plus.

Best base from which to explore Melbourne. Apartments are huge and have balconies with expansive views over Flagstaff Gardens and the city skyline. In so many other CBD hotels you just feel boxed in. Love being able to walk 10 mins for a breakfast with the locals in North Melbourne, or, walk 10 mins to Hardware Lane to catch a bus that will have you in Lygon St, Carlton, or the top of Smith and Brunswick streets in Collingwood/Fitzroy in under 20 mins. This is what Melbourne is all about: discoveries around every corner!

Great location and friendly staff. Everything you need in a room, nice bed, quiet, warm, a nice little kitchenette with cups, plates bowls, cutlery. Bathroom had a big bath! That’s always a plus for us. Parking right next to hotel, $35 a night, quite reasonable for a capital city. Easy to drive to hotel as it’s at located at east edge of cbd, moments walk to trams, trains, parks, theatres. A woolies metro supermarket around the corner. A free coffee machine (and tea) in the lobby.

We had the most amazing stay at the Grand Hyatt. Our booking was upgraded at no extra charge to a room with the most incredible, uninterrupted views of the Melbourne CBD and surrounds. The hotel itself is luxurious and cosy, perfect for our winter getaway. The bed was really comfy and even though we were located in the heart of the city the room was very quiet, we slept so well. This Apartment block is located in a great position. It is only a short walk to the Regent Theatre to see Moullin Rouge before it ends it’s Melbourne season. You can also take advantage of free tram rides in the CBD free ride precinct. The apartments are located in Flinders Lane with a large range of restaurants, cafes and coffee shops.
