We had a 'Bay View' room, but the window looking over the Bay was 'sprung', so there was just condensation and we couldn't see anything. Frankly this was very disappointing as we had paid for a Bay View room but didn't get a proper view. I wish I had pointed this out when we checked out as I feel we should have had some money back as a result. Also, there were no proper lights in the room, so we couldn't read in bed. Also, why do English hotels insist on double quilts? These are unheard of on the continent - people have their own quilts - for goodness sake Harbour View catch up with the times!

The property I booked was outside the town of St Ives in a place called Consol. However, was advertised as being in St Ives. There was builders rubble in the parking space. I was told that my 'private entrace' was through the french windows of the property and I would not, as a single traveller, have felt secure in such a situation. I did not stay at this property and would be pleased to receive a refund please.

What a picturesque town with outstanding natural beauty and so much to see in the way of art and ceramics. It does get very crowded during holiday times so I would recommend going out of season. Highlights include the Tate St Ives, the Barbara Hepworth Studio, the various galleries and the beaches. The walking could be difficult for anyone with limited mobility but there are ways around that in terms of getting transport. A really stunning spot. Plenty of excellent places to eat from beach cafes to independent bakeries and coffee shops to fish restaurants. It seemed that everywhere was very dog friendly too and many visitors were there with their dogs.

I’ve been coming to St Ives for 50 years so I’m slightly biased but it is a beautiful place with 5 beaches. Numerous good places to eat. Lovely little shops with different crafty bits in. Mostly flat when you are in the town area. Good location for exploring more of Cornwall if needed but plenty to see and do in St Ives.
Really lovely place to stay, spotlessly clean and all the appliances and kitchen equipment you need. Beds were really comfy and clean towels provided. The grounds around the property are kept so well and the gardens are so pleasant to sit in. The hotel complex offers tennis, swimming and a gym at a small cost. We visited the restaurant there also for dinner/Sunday lunch which was good.
Great location to visit other areas of Cornwall by car/train.
It’s in a stunning location Carbis Bay not far from St Ives, walk to the end of the street & their are buses that take you into St Ives in 5 mins. The room was small but the bed very comfortable & spacious bathroom. The breakfast was delicious & plenty of choice. The host’s are very friendly & suggested lots of attractions to visit in the area. I recommend this B & B when visiting Cornwall.
The location of the hotel and view from the hotel room were amazing. Generally the staff were very helpful and professional. The spa with its outdoor pool (heated to 30'C) is a great facility and the gardens are well looked after. The location, views, food, service and general experience at the Ugly Butterfly were the high spot of the holiday.
It was adequate, no frills accommodation. I suppose you don’t visit Cornwall to stay at the accommodation?
There was a lovely woodland walk which was beautiful in the evening sunshine and you will be a short car journey away from Saint Ives or the bus leaves hourly. It was well connected. These were all very positive things
The ambience typically traditionally British and the lounge ,dining space , all and of course the Family room ..nicely spacious and well thought out for the guests ..also the bathroom was traditional and nice
The Location of this hotel was the best and matched by only the Harbour Bay Hotel . .
Very friendly staff, made us feel at home. Youth lead, not your typical classical formal hotel staff. Very modern in how it’s run. Very very clean. Great breakfast. Literally a minute away from the beach, we could hear the waves at night. Beautiful design and rooms very spacious
Very glad there was a fridge in the room and also the welcoming by the host in general, the beds were very comfortable to sleep in and although it was just a room, it felt like a luxury hotel suite, bathrooms are quite large compared to anywhere else.
Beautiful location with sea views from the very comfortable lounge where you might while away a couple of hours with a couple of drinks from the honesty bar. Breakfast was delicious with the highlight being a fresh fruit salad of summer fruits.
The location was on perfect for exploring the toe end of Cornwall, and with the lealant station a short walk away, St Ives was easily accessible even at busy times. Lovely soft bed and lots of tasty choice for breakfast. Great place to stay!
the location was perfect - a slight view of the ocean from our room and a short walk to the beach, to the heart of St. Ives, and the train station.
the staff was very kind and professional, and the breakfasts each morning were delicious.
Excellent location, lovely spacious clean house suitable for family and pets. Kitchen well stocked with enough utensils and equipment for all. Nice to have a house which welcomes dogs, and still of an excellent standard.
was worried about valet parking but this like the everything else about our stay was excellent, room was very spacious with a brilliant view, excellent breakfast as was the dinner we had at the hotel.
The hotel is really nice, has stunning views from the breakfast room and outside bar. The breakfast has nice options. The spa pool is average, but always great to have.
Lovely hotel and staff located in a perfect part of Cornwall. The views are as good as they look and without doubt, the food was some of the best we've had, anywhere.
